| Configure email for Outlook Express
All email client software requires the same basic information. The following
settings should apply for all email software, this walkthrough is for
Outlook Express:
Email Address: Your requested email name (username@yourdomain.com) Email Server Type: POP3 Incoming Email Server Name: mail.yourdomain.com Outgoing Email Server Name: mail.yourdomain.com Account Name: Your unique username (the name to the left of the "@" sign in your email address). Password: Your requested password (case sensitive!). Outlook Express Configuration Instructions 1. Open Outlook Express 2. Click on the Tools drop-down menu, and then click on Accounts. 2. Select the Mail tab. 3. Click Add and then click Mail. 4. In the "Display name" box, enter your name. This is the name people will see when they receive email from you, so it should be capitalized & spaced. After entering your name, click Next. 5. Enter your email address, Click Next. 6. Select POP3 as your email server type, and then enter mail.yourdomain.com for both the incoming & outgoing email servers. Click Next. ** NOTE: some ISP's require you use their outgoing mail server, most notably, Earthlink and MSN. If this is the case, you would use mail.your-isp-.com or net for outgoing mail. Consult your ISP for more information. 7. Enter your full email address in the "Account name" box, ie: username@yourdomain.com and also enter your password. Be sure to check the "Remember password" box. Do not check the "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" box. Click Next. 8. Click Finish. You should be returned to the account setup box, and your new account should be listed like this: mail.yourdomain.com 9. Verify that it says "mail (default)" under the Type column. If your mail.yourdomain.com account does not say (default) then click the Set as Default button. 10. Now click on Properties. 11. Rename the mail account from mail.yourdomain.com to something more descriptive, like Mary's Email. Click Apply, then Okay.. That's it -- Your Done! |
